The Plays from the Alley series is one element of an initiative to stir, engage and connect artists with audiences in a direct and gripping fashion.
Plays from the Alley was in the past a summer staple with Alley Rep, a reading series of original, full-length plays by local playwrights.
In the spring of 2019, Plays from the Alley will re-launch with a focus on bringing a single playwright into a workshop style atmosphere in order to help grow their play.
The submission period is NOW OPEN for playwrights local to the Treasure Valley to submit their full-length play for consideration. We are searching for one playwright who will get a chance to workshop their play in collaboration with a director and performers. A month-long rehearsal process of 6-8 rehearsals/workshops will culminate in two staged readings the first part of May 2019.
The playwright must be local to the Treasure Valley (Boise, Meridian, Garden City, Nampa, etc.) in order to be considered. The selected playwright will be expected to attend rehearsals in the month of April in order to workshop their play.
No limitations on genre and play should be at least 70 pages.
To submit, email the following info to Jason Haskins (firstname.lastname@example.org) before DECEMBER 1, 2018:
And that's it! Final decisions will be made and playwright informed by late January/early February of 2019. Feel free to also reach out to Jason if you have any questions. We look forward to reading your work!
